“Shiosai” – Tidesong Footed Mug
“Shiosai” – Tidesong Footed Mug
Description:
With gentle curves that ripple like waves meeting the shore, Shiosai — meaning “the sound of the tide” — is a mug sculpted in motion. Each line on its body is carved to mimic the rhythm of flowing water, while soft glazes in coastal blues and sandy beige bring to mind seagrass, salt, and sun-bleached shells.
Its delicate footed base raises the vessel slightly, as if it’s floating. The curved handle is carefully wrapped in traditional jute cord, balancing the organic form with a rustic touch rooted in Japanese folkcraft.
Every Shiosai mug is a small sculpture — wheel-thrown and hand-shaped, then fired at high temperatures to fuse glaze and clay into a harmonious whole. Whether used for morning tea or reflective sipping, it brings the spirit of the ocean into your daily rhythm.
