The General’s Cup – Sandstone

The General’s Cup is a study of balance, strength, and refinement. Each piece is created in Dehua where master ceramicists shape the clay by hand and fire it at high temperatures to achieve both durability and quiet beauty.

Inspired by the geometry of ancient tea vessels, the design unites a conical body with a hand-carved square base. The form symbolises focus and calm — the rising cone representing clarity, and the grounded base representing composure. Every cup is crafted with intention, bringing together simplicity and discipline in perfect harmony.

During firing, layers of reactive glaze flow and merge in the heat, creating natural drips and soft gradients that make each piece one of a kind. This traditional glazing technique, developed over centuries, captures the unpredictability of fire and the artistry of the maker’s hand.

The General’s Cup has a sculptural presence and a reassuring weight. It is designed to be held, admired, and used. Whether for coffee, tea, or quiet reflection, it transforms the everyday ritual into a moment of intention and artistry.
